Lot’s of people have bad luck, but sometimes you got nothing to do like Stanley Yelnats, from the book “Holes”. This guy is totally desperate. This feature of him reminded me the movie "8 Mile". Rabbit had bad luck too. That's why it made me a little bit curious.
The main character of the story in of course, Stanley, he is big, and slightly overweight, and always gets picked on, especially by one kid younger than he is. Apparently his great, great grandfather kept a promise to an old gypsy, named Madam Zeroni, but if he broke that promise, he and his entire family would be cursed for all eternity, which he did. Now Stanley has bad luck left and right. Stanley is a little bit like me, we must do the things that we don't want , usually. He is brave and confident. That's the reason why I like Stanley.
But unfortunately, he is not the narrator of the story, the author is, which is sort of less exciting. The story begins with The Narrator telling us about how Stanley ended up going to Camp Green Lake, apparently he was convicted of stealing Clyde Livingston’s shoes, and was sent to camp to make up for what he did. But he never actually stole them; he was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. He tells us about all of Stanley’s adventures at camp and experiences, eventually tell about him find his families long lost treasure, and telling about how he lifted the curse.
